I was born in 1976 in Connecticut, but grew up in a small town near Binghamton, New York. During high school I took Math, Physics and Computer Science courses at Binghamton University . I was also active my local Boy Scout troop, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
I graduated from Cornell University in 1998 with majors in Math and Psychology. At Cornell I was a member of the Dean's Scholar and College Scholar programs, meant to encourage the life of the mind and interdisciplinary study. From 1999-2000 worked as a research programmer for Daniel H. Sanes at the NYU Center for Neural Science.
I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Neuroscience working with Kechen Zhang in the department of Biomedical Engineering . Previously I worked with Xiaoqin Wang before changing thesis labs during the 2004-2005 academic year. I will graduate in the Spring of 2009.
I will soon be looking for a post-doc doing computational analysis of sensory processing, and will be available to start work in the Fall of 2009. I would eventually like to get an academic job at a college or university where I will be able to combine teaching and research in equal measure.
